About Joyce Guariglia
Born and raised in Collingswood, NJ, I now reside in Montgomery County, PA.
I have always had a passion for art. In earlier years I used oil and acrylic painting en plein-aire. After raising my three daughters, I became very serious with watercolor and used this medium exclusively for more than a dozen years. I am, for the most part self taught. I paint on a regular basis, very often attending classes and workshops in drawing and painting. I choose to learn from Master Artist's who influence me and help me to excel as an artist. Currently, I paint almost exclusively in pastel and use sanded papers as my support.
Whenever possible I enjoy en plein-aire but mostly I paint in my studio utilizing the sketches I've drawn. My feelings are such; that painting en plein-aire is the best possible situation for capturing the light and to observe nature. This will, in the end produce the best paintings and create a better artist.
My recent works have bold reds and abstract shapes which I paint in an impressionistic yet representational style.
